Mr. Harries concentrates his practice in estate planning, probate, trust administration and real estate. He also is well-respected for his environmental law practice, which includes environmental compliance, CERCLA and toxic tort litigation; air, water and wetlands permits; environmental assessment worksheets; environmental impact statements; mineral leases; and mineral and surface titled for mining and surface titles for mining companies and utilities.
Mr. Harries was educated at Stanford University and the University of Minnesota from which he received his LL.B. degree, where he was a member of the Minnesota Law Review. He was admitted to the Minnesota State Bar in 1955, and the State Bar of Wisconsin in 1984. He is a member of the American Bar Association and the Minnesota State Bar Association. He has served as President of the 11th District Bar Association (1986-87) and is a past member of the Minnesota State Bar Association.
Mr. Harries is active in the community, serving as Chairman of the Trustees of the United Way of Greater Duluth Trust and as President of the Duluth Public Library Foundation. He is past President of the United Way and past Chairman of the Duluth Public Library Board of Directors.
