William M. Burns

Mr. Burns handles private and public financing of business enterprises, multifamily and commercial real estate development, health care business issues, commercial real estate development, and mergers and acquisitions. He also provides general business advice, management of litigation and other dispute resolution services. His clients include large and small businesses, banks, real estate developers, educational institutions and medical specialists.

Mr. Burns received his Bachelor of Arts and Juris Doctor degrees, both with honors, from the University of Michigan. He was a member of the Order of the Coif, Assistant Editor of the Michigan Law Review, and Research Assistant for Professor Arthur R. Miller. Mr. Burns was admitted to the Minnesota Bar in 1968. He is a member of the Minnesota Bar Association and American Bar Association. Mr. Burns is listed in "Best Lawyers in America," and has been voted a "Super Lawyer" by his peers in Minnesota Law & Politics' annual surveys.

Mr. Burns is a strong supporter of legal services for low income individuals. He has served as President of Legal Aid Service of Northeastern Minnesota, as a member of the Board of Directors of Legal Assistance of Minnesota, and received the Pro Bono Publico award from the Minnesota State Bar Association. He is active in other community ventures as well, including Wolf Ridge Environment Learning Center where he was Board Chair for eleven years and the College of St. Scholastic where he is a Trustee Emeritus and former Board Chair. He is also a former United Way chairman and former Chair of the Spirit Mountain Recreation Area.
