Richard R. Burns
Mr. Burns represents small- to medium-sized family-owned businesses and professionals in business and estate planning matters. He also functions as general counsel for media companies and a significant charitable organization, primarily in the areas of contract, employment and benefit issues, and libel and privacy matters. He is a magna cum laude graduate of the University of Michigan Law School where he was a member of the Order of the Coif and a Research Assistant.
Mr. Burns is a Fellow of the American College of the Trust and Estate Counsel and its Minnesota State Chair. He is listed "The Best Lawyers in America," and is listed as a "Super Lawyer" in the annual survey conducted by Minnesota Law & Politics. He is a past member of the Executive Committee of the Minnesota State Bar Association. He is a former Chair of the Probate & Trust Section of the Minnesota Bar Association and a former President of the Arrowhead Estate Planning Council.
Mr. Burns believes strongly in community involvement. Among other community and charitable positions, he was a founder and former Chair of the Duluth-Superior Area Community Foundation, is a former Chair and a recipient of the United Way Distinguished Service Award, and is a past Chair of Miller-Dwan Medical Center. He is currently a Trustee of Northland College, Ashland, Wisconsin.
